Spiritual Practices: Meditations on Faith is an exploration of the visual art practices of four contemporary Jesuit artists. Each artist reveals to us their own unique experiences and contributions as both artist and Jesuit. Engaging the sometimes complex, yet synergistic intersections between spiritual and artistic practices, the results are thoughtful and engaging entries into the worlds of each Jesuit. For one it might be the revisioning of an iconic image of Jesus, for another an homage to the love of a mother. One seeks to reveal the spirituality inherent in the discarded and found object brought to new life and meaning, while another confides in us the heartbreakingly beautiful layers of grief and eventual hope from the wreckage of a devastating tragedy. The Spiritual Practices artists work with diverse techniques including re-purposing found objects, mixed media, painting, printing, sculpture, and stained glass.
